The ARCOS Project
Action de Recherche pour une Conduite Sécurisée
(Research Action for Safe Driving)
This French project financed by PREDIT took place over a period of three years, culminating in late 2004 with a series of demonstrations at the Satory site - near Paris.
Its main concern is the improvement of road safety, with the goal of reducing accidents by 30%.
Major developed functionalities:
- Controlling the distance between vehicles
- Preventing collisions with fixed, stopped, or slow moving obstacles
- Keeping vehicles in their traffic lane
- Alerting vehicles at the approach of an accident or incident
Intempora provided the RTMaps software platforms that equipped the experimental vehicles and developed the ARCOS Database to store and share the ARCOS scenarios.
