The IV2002 event was organised by the Versailles INRIA Center in conjunction with ITS 2002. It offered the opportunity to demonstrate "intelligent" vehicles on the Satory circuit - near Paris. As part of this event, Ecole des Mines presented it algorithm for lateral control.

The aim of this project was to maintain the vehicle on its trajectory between the white lines that define its driving lane. RTMaps software served as the acquisition platform, notably for the information from the video camera placed on the front of the vehicle. Once the algorithm was applied, the generated command was sent to a control mechanism that acted upon the vehicle's drive shaft to keep it on the correct path.
