Medicine Osteopathy: A new software
Many medical specialties (like osteopathy) that rely on direct, physical manipulation encounter problems to transmit their know-how or to communicate with other practitioners. Osteopaths, for example, would like to standardize their practices, while also seeking a means to broaden and enrich their training methods.
An Osteopathic Software (based on RTMaps)
RTMaps simultaneously records all types of data streams, such as video, sound, physical and physiological information. Databases thus created play back an exact reproduction of the recorded situation, giving the viewer control over the timeline so that gestures can be closely analyzed. A custom graphical Interface (edited by South Minerva Production)is used to facilitate the visualization of information.
Osteopathy, a conclusive experimentation
A group of doctor osteopath is
concerned with standardizing the terminology employed as well as the
gestures associated.
The problems posed are then to record the gestures in a precise way
and under the relevant angles of vision, a synchronous way and with
the comments of the experts.
Other sensors could have been
used in addition of the 3 cameras and the microphone, such as
the measurement of electrocardiograms, the measurement of the pressure exerted by the fingers, measurements allowing to appreciate felt or stress of the patient...The playback speed according to each sequence, a precise analysis of every gesture can be made.
Intempora thanks Dr. Gilles Wilmouth, osteopath, for his help in the conception and realization of the first experimentation
