Puvame
Protection des Usagers Vulnérables par Alarmes ou Manœuvres d'Evitement
Protection of Vulnerable Users through Alarms or Evasive Actions)
PUVAME is a PREDIT project that culminates in late 2005.
Its goal is the protection of passengers, pedestrians, and others "vulnerable", around and during manoeuvres by mass transit vehicles such as buses, tramways, and in particular, articulated buses.
- Improvement of the driver's perception capabilities by fusion of data from various on board sensors with those from sensors located for example at bus stops or dangerous crossings (cameras, radar, laser telemeter...).
- Detection and appreciation of dangerous situations, by analyzing data relating to the "behavior of the driver" and appraising the operations in progress "dangerosity".
- Release of alarms and associated actions in the vehicle (directional sound signalling hooters, haptic alarms, urgent braking if nonreaction of the driver...).
- Sound intended for the vulnerables in danger outside the vehicule,
for example from devices located on the vehicle or
on the infrastructure.
- Integration and experiments on vehicles and preliminary study on bus
and/or trams.
